Our library has a new refreshed look and some exciting changes!

Early On playgroups are held each Wednesday 9:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. Starting May 2025 every second playgroup will be in French offered by Danielle Robertson Centre de sante commuataire du Temiskaming and Early On (English) Crystal Smith offers playgroups on alternate weeks. These programs are available to everyone.

The Little Library is also located in front of the municipal building. Books and magazines can be taken or left 24/7 for others to enjoy free of charge.

We have public computers, photocopying and free Wi-Fi. Books and DVDs are available for loan and Inter-library loans are available for books that are not available at our location. A library card gives patrons access to Libby. Libby offers free on-line e-books, audio books and thousands of magazines. We also have toys, puzzles, games, and a makerspace area for crafts.

The “Pay as you Please” book sale is ongoing in the library. Selection is constantly changing.

Membership to the library is free if you are an owner or tenant of property in the Villages of Earlton, Thornloe, or Charlton or the Township of Armstrong, Charlton/Dack or Kerns. We also pleased to welcome Hilliard and Hudson Townships into our service area in 2025. If you are a resident of other municipalities, you can still access all the library services for a non-resident fee of $35.00 per year.

The Armstrong Township Public Library is located at the municipal building at 35, 10th Street, Earlton, Ontario. It is open the following hours:

Monday: 9 am – 12 pm and 1 -4 pm
Tuesday: 9 am – 12 pm and 1 – 4 pm and 6 pm – 8 pm
Wednesday: 9 am – 12 pm and 1 pm – 4 pm
Thursday: 9 am – 12 pm and 1 pm – 5 pm
Friday: CLOSED
Saturday: 11 am – 3 pm

Sunday: CLOSED

Ample parking in the spaces around the library building. There is also a drop box located on the parking lot side of the building to return items after hours and on Sundays when the library is not open.

Internet services: public access workstations, free wifi, printing, photocopying and faxing for a fee, free scanning of documents, mobile wifi hotspots for loan

Other services: a Digital Creator space with 3D printers, Virtual Reality equipment, a green screen, a Raspberry Pi workstation, a button/pin maker and a gaming station; a
microfilm reader/Temiskaming Speaker archives; programming for all ages; online patron catalogue for searching for books, placing holds, renewing books; inter-library loan to get items from other Ontario libraries; a study room; a programming room which can be rented for meetings; and seating areas throughout the building to recharge phones and devices

How to get a library card: Residents of the contracting townships of Casey, and Harley can sign up for a free library membership by calling or coming into the library. Proof of address, such as a driver’s license or utility bill, is required, and parents or guardians must sign for memberships for children 12 and under. A library card is needed to take items out of the library and access the library’s eResources.  Residents who live in Hudson or Kerns should contact their municipality to see if there is a non-resident fee reimbursement allowance.

There are some activities that take place at the City of Temiskaming Shores Library that do not require library cards.  Please contact the city library for more information.
